The inaugural Surf 102.5FM Cup took place at the Monkey and Field pitch in Hua Hin yesterday. Five teams participated and Black Mountain were the winners after winning four games out of four without conceding a single goal.
Having won their first three games Black Mountain faced local rivals Vanon Kanong in the final match. With both teams having won all their games this was effectively a final.
The team got off to a good start with Achie curling a free kick into the top corner from a tight angle. We then had to withstand relentless pressure from Vanon Kanong and rode our luck at times with the ball cannoning back off the bar.
It was a close match and the referee decided to play a lot of injury time which added to the tension. But a sweeping counter attack was swept in from close range by Patrick with the ball hitting the underside of the bar and clearly crossing the line.
